The Client

K2 Partnering Solutions is leading global technology services firm that provides enterprise software consultants and solutions for projects around the world. With 26 locations covering Europe, North America, South America and Asia Pacific, K2 Partnering Solutions specialises in ERP, Enterprise Cloud, Analytics/Big Data, Enterprise Mobility market and Social/Digital technologies.
When K2 contacted topflight, they were looking for a digital agency partner to develop and action a multi-layered website migration, aiming to segment the markets across their three service pillars: recruitment, education and professional services.

The Challenge

Before engaging with topflight, K2 Partnering Solutions had a single website (k2partnering.com) that served as the main platform for the brand. They were launching a new website focused on their recruitment brand in December, and a brand-new section focusing on a new business area: professional services. Once the new websites were built, the three brands would be fully segmented and the main domain, once used as core platform, would be serving as connector for the external websites (umbrella website).
For that process, K2 Partnering Solutions required a full website migration strategy and execution that would allow them to transfer the current organic rankings and traffic from k2partnering.com to the new domain without losing any SEO traction in the process.
The Solutions

We started the migration process by analysing the audience and website performance for every brand, making sure we aligned the audiences and buyer personas with the future website structure. At the same time, we prepared all the technical changes that were going to make once the migration process started.
Once we gathered all the data and saved the relevant content for each domain, we executed the domain migration and generated the permanent redirections for the external domains, so the users trying to access the old website were automatically redirected to the global platform. Additionally, we informed Google of the change in the addresses through Google Search Console and submitted the new sitemap reflecting the updated permalink structure.
The Results

The domain migration brought almost immediate growth. Most of the organic traffic metrics saw a drastic increase, as per the data below:
- 74% increase in branded queries.
- 228% increase in global organic traffic.
- 91% increase in average organic position (Google).
